KATIE SLACK
One of my favourite things about films and filmmaking and what drives me the most, is cinematography. I love being blown away by seeing something amazing and beautiful, and leaving the cinema with passion and excitement from the rush of inspiration. I think sometimes visual can communicate in a way that words and dialogue can be limited to. I love seeing a complex shot and setting it up in my head to understand how it was achieved and where it can go, what I can do with that technique for myself.
I developed my love of film half way through my GCSE’s. Filmmaking wasn't taught at my school so I found it hard to find people with similar interests. When I left and took a Creative Media Film and TV Production course at Sussex Downs College Lewes, it suddenly felt healthy being around so many people who shared my interest. I was able to become more reliable and independent at the same time. It felt great to be able to share my love of film with other people, and be able to have people recommend me amazing films that would help me develop my skills, as well as them themselves.
